Examples

A 3D view in, a photoreal render out

The sample models were built in Blender and are shown as plain 3D views, not as Rhino files. The render that came back is on the right, not edited.

Family house

A pitched roof house on a summer morning, with a family on the drive. The gable, the chimney, the door and all 8 windows are where the model has them.

Glass pavilion cafe

A flat roof pavilion at dusk, busy inside and on the terrace. The columns and the roof overhang match the model.

Step by step

How to get your Rhino view ready

4 steps, and only the export is required.

1. Set up the viewport

Frame the model in a Perspective viewport. Hide the objects you do not want in the picture, such as curves, points and construction geometry.

2. Choose a plain display mode

Set the viewport to Shaded or Arctic. A white or light grey model gives the cleanest result. Turn shadows off, the AI adds its own light.

3. Capture a PNG

Run the ViewCaptureToFile command and set the width and height you want. Set DrawGrid, DrawWorldAxes and DrawCPlaneAxes to No, and save a PNG. A normal screenshot works too.

4. Render it

Upload the PNG, pick daylight, evening sun, dusk or night, and add a short note about materials if you want, such as white render and oak windows.

What to expect

What the AI keeps from your Rhino model and what it changes

So you know what to show a client and what to send to our studio.

What stays the same

The shape of the building, the windows and doors, the roofline and the number of floors. The camera angle stays exactly as in your screenshot.

What the AI changes

Materials, light, sky, planting and furniture finishes. Use the note field to steer them, for example white render and oak windows.

What can be simplified

Very fine details, such as thin window bars or small railings, can come out simpler than in the model. For exact final images, use our studio.

What happens to your file

Only the screenshot is sent, never your model file. We do not use your images to train AI, and we do not publish your renders.

Rhino AI rendering FAQ

Questions about AI rendering for Rhino

Versions, capture settings, files and client work.

Try it on your Rhino model
Which Rhino versions work?
Any version that can show your model. The tool only needs a picture of the viewport, from the ViewCaptureToFile command or a normal screenshot.
Do I need a plugin for Rhino?
No. You save a PNG from Rhino and upload it in your browser. Nothing is added to Rhino and the model file is never uploaded.
Which ViewCaptureToFile settings should I use?
Set the width and height you want, and set DrawGrid, DrawWorldAxes and DrawCPlaneAxes to No so the grid and axes are not in the picture. Save as PNG. The studio takes PNG, JPG or WebP files up to 10 MB.
Which Rhino display mode gives the best result?
Shaded or Arctic, with a white or light grey model. A plain view works best. The AI adds its own materials and light, unless you choose Keep my materials.
Does it work with curved and freeform shapes?
The tool works from the picture, so any shape you can show in the viewport can go in. It aims to keep the geometry and the camera as you modelled them. Check the result with the line on it: drag it across the picture.
Can I show a Rhino render to a client?
Free renders are for personal use and carry a small 3Dstudio.co logo. Any plan or credit pack allows client work and removes the logo. Pro and up also give you client review links: your client comments on the picture or approves it, with no account.
