Best 3D Rendering Companies in Australia (2026): 8 Studios Compared
A fair comparison of 8 Australian 3D rendering companies, plus 3Dstudio.co, with a services matrix, a city guide, a short entry for each studio and advice on photomontage.
In this article
- 8 studios compared by offices, focus and services, plus 3Dstudio.co.
- A services matrix shows who lists photomontage, floor plans and VR.
- A city guide for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
- Advice on time zone, planning photomontage, quotes and NDA.
The 3D rendering companies in Australia compared here are Kado3D in Sydney; Cleanpix Graphics, Grand Visuals and GT Images in Melbourne; ArchVisual and Viewtech3D in Perth; and Blank Canvas and PREMIER3D, which both list offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. We also include 3Dstudio.co, our own studio in Tallinn, Estonia.
Most of them make architectural stills and animation for developers, architects and agencies, and 4 list photomontage or planning visuals. You may also see them called 3D visualization companies, architectural rendering companies or architectural visualization studios. To see how we work, read about our architectural visualization service.
About this list: it is written by 3Dstudio.co, and we include ourselves, marked as our studio. Every other entry uses facts from the studio’s own website, checked in October 2026. Featured on this list and something has changed? Contact us through 3dstudio.co and we will update the entry.
How we chose these studios
We started with the studios that appear in searches for 3D rendering companies in Australia and kept the ones we could check on their own websites. A studio was included when it met all 4 points:
- Architectural visualization is its core business, or a clearly named service line.
- Its own site shows a date from 2024 or later: dated work, dated image uploads or a copyright notice.
- Apart from our own studio, it has an office in Australia and works for Australian clients.
- Its website states what services it offers and who it works for.

Apart from our own studio, we left out studios that operate mainly from another country under an Australian page, studios whose main business is something other than visualization, and studios whose own websites showed no date from 2024 or later. A field we could not find is marked “not listed”, and a studio with no stated head office is shown with its offices.

How to choose a rendering company in Australia
A portfolio shows what a studio can make. The points below show how a studio works with you, and they apply to every studio on this list, including us. To judge the images themselves, read how to judge photorealism in a rendering portfolio. For the full checklist, read our guide to how to compare 3D rendering companies.
Time zone
Tallinn is 5 to 9 hours behind Australia’s main cities, depending on the city and the season. Files sent at 5 pm in Sydney arrive at 8 to 10 am in Tallinn. Files sent at 5 pm in Perth arrive at 11 am to noon. Live calls need more planning than with a studio in your own city.
| City | Hours ahead of Tallinn, April to September | Hours ahead of Tallinn, November to March |
|---|---|---|
| Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra | 7 | 9 |
| Brisbane | 7 | 8 |
| Adelaide | 6.5 | 8.5 |
| Perth | 5 | 6 |
Daylight saving starts and ends on different dates in the 2 hemispheres. For most of October, and from late March to early April, the gap to Sydney is 8 hours.
Off-the-plan marketing
Developers who sell before construction need images early, often before the design is final. Our guide to rendering for pre-construction marketing covers what to prepare, and our page on 3D rendering for property developers shows how we work with launch sets.

Planning photomontage and DA submissions
A photomontage places the proposed building in a real photograph of the site. A marketing render is built for sales: the light, the styling and the sky are chosen to look good. Councils and courts may ask for the first kind, so ask your planner which one your council expects. Several studios above list photomontage or town planning visuals.

The New South Wales Land and Environment Court has a policy on photomontages used as expert evidence in appeals. Its requirements make a useful checklist to send to any studio before you order:
- The existing photo from the same viewpoint, unaltered, included with the photomontage.
- The camera location, direction and height (reduced level) shown on a plan, based on survey data, with the name and qualifications of the surveyor.
- The camera type, lens and focal length or field of view of the existing photo.
- A wire frame or block massing overlay of the proposed building on the existing photo, and the software used for the final image.
The policy applies to appeals in that court under the state planning law. For a development application in any state, ask your planner or council what they require. This list does not record which studios work to this standard, so ask each one directly.
Compare quotes like for like
Send every shortlisted studio the same brief: the same drawings, the same number of views, the same resolution and the same delivery date. Ask each one for the number of revision rounds, the usage rights and whether the price is fixed before work starts. Our guide to what drives 3D rendering cost explains the factors, and how we quote a fixed project price shows our method.
Files, usage rights and NDA
- File formats: ask which formats the studio accepts. We accept DWG, PDF plans and elevations, SketchUp, Revit, ArchiCAD and IFC. Even a photo of a hand sketch is enough for a quote.
- Usage rights: check that you can use the images on brochures, portals, hoardings, press and planning submissions without a new fee.
- NDA: an unbuilt project is usually confidential, so ask whether the studio signs an NDA before you send files.
If you are weighing an overseas studio against a local one, our guide to outsourcing 3D rendering covers the trade-offs. Our 4-stage rendering process starts with an untextured grey model so you can check the building before materials are added. To compare us with your shortlist, request a quote with your drawings.
Questions about 3D rendering companies in Australia
Which 3D rendering companies are based in Brisbane or on the Gold Coast?
Blank Canvas and PREMIER3D list Brisbane offices, and PREMIER3D’s is in Fortitude Valley. No studio on this list is based on the Gold Coast. Studios in Melbourne and Sydney also serve Queensland: Cleanpix Graphics names Brisbane as a service area, and Kado3D says it serves Brisbane.
What does a photomontage for a development application need?
It depends on the state and the council, so ask your planner. The New South Wales Land and Environment Court policy on photomontages used as expert evidence asks for the existing photo from the same viewpoint, the camera position and reduced level from survey data, the surveyor, the camera type and lens, and a wire frame or block massing overlay. Cleanpix Graphics, GT Images, Kado3D and PREMIER3D list photomontage or town planning visuals.
How much does 3D rendering cost in Australia?
Price depends on the number of views, the size and complexity of the scene, how ready the files are and the resolution. Send the same brief to each studio and ask for a fixed price. Our guide to 3D rendering cost explains each factor.
What software do architectural rendering studios use?
Many studios use 3ds Max with Corona or V-Ray, and Photoshop for finishing. Some use Unreal Engine for real-time work and VR. We use 3ds Max, Corona, V-Ray and Photoshop. The more useful question is whether the studio accepts your native files, such as Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, DWG or IFC.
Do I need a rendering studio in my own Australian city?
Not usually. Most studios on this list say they serve clients across Australia, and architectural visualization works remotely from drawings. A studio in your own city helps with site visits and live meetings. A studio in Europe such as ours works in a different time zone, so review rounds can run while you are offline.
Can a studio outside Australia work from Australian drawings?
Yes, if it accepts your file formats, such as DWG, PDF plans, SketchUp, Revit or ArchiCAD. Our exterior rendering work starts from the drawings, with photos or a map for the surroundings.
