The short answer

How much does an exterior rendering cost?

Our exterior rendering projects start at €1,000. What you pay above that depends on the number of buildings and views, the detail of the design and how much of the surroundings is built, and it is always one fixed price.

We price the project, not the image. The first view builds the model; every view after it costs much less.

This page is about 3D exterior rendering: photoreal images of a building made on a computer before it is built. It is not about the cost of rendering a wall with plaster.

We do not publish a price per image, because the first image carries the work of building the 3D model and every image after it uses that model. A price per image would make a set of eight look eight times more expensive than one view, which it is not. The ranges below are what typical scopes cost.

3D exterior rendering of timber townhouses along a street, Finland

Smaller projects: from €1,000

One or a few exterior views of one building, for example a house for a client presentation or a planning drawing. €1,000 is our minimum order.

Single-building launch set: €3,000 to €6,000

The full marketing set for one building: exterior views by day and at dusk, interiors, 3D floor plans and an aerial view, all from one 3D model.

Multi-building developer package: €5,000 to €15,000

A development with several buildings, the site around them and the views a sales launch needs, delivered on one schedule.

Open-ended work: €85 per hour

Only for work where the scope keeps changing, such as ongoing design changes. A defined project always gets a fixed price.

Types of view

What changes the cost of a single view

The same building can be shown in different ways, and each one takes a different amount of work. All of them come from one model.

3D exterior rendering of a long single-storey house with a stone path and a planted garden in daylight, Norway

Daylight view at eye level

The building as a person standing outside would see it. This is the starting point and the simplest view to produce.

3D exterior rendering of a dark timber house above a fjord at dusk, with the windows lit, Norway

Dusk or night view

The interior lights on and the evening sky, which takes extra lighting work. It is often the image that sells the building.

Aerial 3D rendering of low-rise apartment buildings in a pine forest near the coast, Estonia

Aerial view

The camera is high above the site, so more of the surroundings has to be modelled. See site plan rendering for whole sites.

Seasons and weather

Snow, autumn colour or rain change the materials, the planting and the light, so a winter version is a new image of the same model.

In every price

What is included in an exterior rendering price

The same terms apply to a single view and to a set of 40. Nothing on this list is an extra.

One fixed price

Agreed before work starts. It only changes if you change the scope, for example by adding a view or a new design.

2 revision rounds

Two rounds of changes are included, and in practice we keep going until the image is right.

4K and full usage rights

Images are delivered at 4K, and you can use them on a website, in print, in a planning submission or in an advert.

A delivery date we keep

The date is agreed together with the price. If we miss the agreed date, the set is free.

What moves the price

What decides the cost of an exterior rendering

Every quote is built from the same questions. Answer them in your brief and the fixed price comes back faster.

  • The state of your drawings

A DWG set with elevations or a 3D model is quickest. From a PDF or a sketch we make assumptions about heights and materials, and the quote says which ones.

  • How many buildings

One house is the smallest job. Several buildings, or several house types on one site, mean more modelling.

  • How much of the surroundings is built

Placing the building into a photograph of the site is quicker than modelling the street, the neighbours and the trees around it.

  • The detail of the design

Curved facades, ornament, custom windows and detailed landscaping take longer to model than a simple form.

  • How many views, and which kind

Every further view costs much less than the first. Dusk, aerial and winter views take a little more work than daylight at eye level.

  • Your deadline

Tell us the date you need the images. The quote states the delivery date, and if we miss it, the set is free.

  • Changes after sign-off

2 revision rounds are included. A new design after the model is built is new work, and we say so before we start.

Questions we get asked

Exterior rendering cost questions, answered

What people usually ask before they order their first exterior. Still unsure? Send the drawings anyway; the fixed price comes back within 30 minutes.

Ask us directly
Is 3D exterior rendering expensive?
It costs less than it saves. An exterior image lets a client approve a design, a planning committee understand a scheme and a buyer commit before anything is built. Our projects start at €1,000, and a full launch set for one building is typically €3,000 to €6,000, which is small next to the cost of the building or the value of the homes it helps to sell.
How much does a 3D exterior of one house cost?
A small project, such as one or two exterior views of a single house, starts at our minimum order of €1,000. The exact price depends on the drawings, the garden and the time of day, and you get one fixed number within 30 minutes of sending the plans.
Is exterior rendering priced per square metre?
No. The size of the building matters much less than the number of views, the detail of the facade and how much of the surroundings is modelled. A small villa with a detailed garden can cost more than a plain warehouse ten times its size.
Why does the first view cost more than the next ones?
The first view carries the work of building the 3D model: the building, the plot, the materials and the surroundings. Every further view uses the same model, so it needs only a new camera, new light and finishing work.
Does a dusk or an aerial view cost more?
Usually a little. A dusk view needs the interior lights and the evening sky set up, and an aerial view needs more of the surroundings modelled, because the camera sees further. Both come from the same model as the daylight view, so adding one to a set costs much less than ordering it alone.
What is the hourly rate for 3D rendering?
€85 per hour, but only for open-ended work where the scope keeps changing, such as ongoing design changes. A defined exterior rendering project always gets one fixed price, so the cost does not grow if a stage takes longer than planned.
Can AI make exterior renderings cheaper?
AI tools are cheap and fast for an early idea, but they do not follow your drawings: windows, proportions and materials change from one image to the next. If the image has to match the building that will be built, for a client, a planning committee or a buyer, the cost of a studio render is the cost of an image you can rely on.
Is the price fixed, or can it grow during the project?
It is fixed. The price and the delivery date are agreed before work starts, and the price only changes if the scope changes, for example if you add a view or the design changes after the model is built. We tell you before we do anything that costs extra.
