Best 3D Rendering Companies in Germany (2026)
A fair comparison of 11 studios for 3D rendering in Germany, including 3Dstudio.co, with locations, services, how German projects use renderings and advice on choosing.
In this article
- 11 studios compared by location, focus and listed services.
- Covers studios in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Hannover and the Frankfurt area.
- Every entry uses facts from the studio's own website and legal notice where found, checked in October 2026.
- Shows how competitions, design phases, sales and public participation use renderings in Germany.
This list compares 11 studios that make 3D renderings for architecture and real estate in Germany. The 10 German studios are bloomimages and moka-studio in Hamburg, 2MB studio, Loomilux, Renderkitchen and xoio in Berlin, smpl in Munich, RhineRender in Cologne, gmsvision in Hannover and Render Vision in Offenbach am Main, next to Frankfurt. The 11th is our own studio, 3Dstudio.co in Tallinn, Estonia.
It is written for architects, developers and property marketers who want to hire 3D visualization companies, architectural rendering companies or architectural visualization studios in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich or elsewhere in Germany. To see how we work, read about our architectural visualization service.
About this list: it is written by 3Dstudio.co, and we include ourselves, marked as our studio. Every other entry uses facts from the studio’s own website and, where we found one, its legal notice (Impressum), checked in October 2026. Featured on this list and something has changed? Contact us through 3dstudio.co and we will update the entry.
How we chose these studios
We started with the studios that appear in searches for architectural visualization in German cities. We kept the ones we could check on their own websites. A studio was included when it met these points:
- Architectural visualization is its core business, or a clearly named service line.
- It shows a public portfolio and current website content. Where a site dates its projects or posts, we looked for recent work.
- Its legal address is in Germany. The one exception is 3Dstudio.co, the author of this list, which is based in Tallinn, Estonia, and is included and marked as our studio.
- Its website states which services it offers and who it works for.
We do not compare ratings, because we could not open review-site profiles for the other studios when we checked. We left out studios whose websites we could not reach and studios that are not based in Germany. The section “Studios we checked and did not include” names them and gives the reason. A field we could not find is marked “not listed”.

How German projects use 3D renderings
Renderings do 4 different jobs in German projects. Each job changes what you should ask a studio.

- Architecture competitions (Wettbewerbe): under the RPW 2013 guidelines, the competition brief (Auslobung) states which services the entries must contain. Send the studio the Auslobung pages, not only the drawings, so it knows the required perspectives and formats. Entries stay anonymous until the jury decides, so ask that the studio’s name does not appear on images or files.
- Design phases (HOAI Leistungsphase 2 and 3): the HOAI lists perspective drawings and animations among the special services of the preliminary design phase. Early views change often, so ask how a changed facade or layout is priced.
- Developer sales (Bauträger): images go into the sales brochure (Exposé), on property portals and onto the site hoarding. Ask for several views from one scene. Our guide to renderings for pre-construction marketing and our page on 3D visualization for real estate developers cover this job.
- Public participation (Bebauungsplan): when a Bebauungsplan is drawn up, the public is informed early about the aims and likely effects of the plan (Section 3 BauGB). A view used there must match the drawings and the real surroundings, so ask how the studio checks the model against the plans.
A building permit application (Bauantrag) is a different case. The model regulation for building applications (MBauVorlV) lists a site plan, building drawings, a building description and technical proofs, not renderings. Each state has its own version, so check with your architect.

How to choose a rendering company in Germany
Ask 2 or 3 studios the same questions below and compare the answers in writing. For the full checklist, see our global list of the best 3D rendering companies. To compare studios side by side, download our free checklist for choosing a 3D rendering studio: 8 questions to send each studio and a scorecard for comparing 3 of them.

- English or German: ask each studio which language it uses for the brief, the feedback and the delivery. We work in English. If your team writes in German, settle this before you send files.
- Drawings and plan formats: send what your architect already has, such as DWG, PDF plans, or IFC. Our guide to preparing files for 3D rendering explains what to send.
- What the image is for: say whether it is for a competition, a design presentation, sales or public participation, because each job needs a different brief.
- Model check: ask whether you see an untextured model before the final image. We show a grey model first, so the camera and the geometry are agreed while changes are cheap.
- Usage rights: check that you can use the images for brochures, portals, hoardings, press and planning submissions without a new fee, and ask for the rights in writing. Every image we deliver comes with full usage rights.
- NDA and data protection: an unbuilt project is confidential. Ask for an NDA before you send drawings, and ask where the files are stored. We work under NDA as standard.
- Time zone: Tallinn is 1 hour ahead of Berlin, so working days overlap almost fully. A studio in a far time zone can add a day to every round.
Studios outside Germany can work well for German projects, because the work is done remotely from your drawings. Read our guide on outsourcing 3D rendering for how that works. If you want to compare prices, read what drives the cost in our 3D rendering cost guide.
Questions about 3D rendering companies in Germany
Which 3D rendering companies in Germany work with architects?
Several studios on this list say they work with architects. gmsvision was founded by architects, moka-studio is run by 2 architects, Loomilux works with architects and project developers, and smpl and xoio name architects among their clients. 3Dstudio.co also works with architects, as our page on 3D visualization for architects explains.
Do I need a local studio for a project in Germany?
Not always. The studio works from your plans, so nobody needs to visit. A local studio can help if you want meetings in person or German-language contact. Berlin has 4 studios on this list and Hamburg has 2.
What should I send to get a quote from a rendering studio?
Send the plans and elevations as DWG or PDF, any SketchUp, Revit, ArchiCAD or IFC model you have, material notes and reference images. A photo of a hand sketch is enough for a quote from us. You can read more on our process page.
How much do 3D rendering companies in Germany charge?
The price depends on the scope, so this list does not compare prices. Studios quote in different ways, for example per image or per project. At our studio, the number of views, scene size, how ready the files are and the resolution move the price. Use these points as a checklist, and ask each studio for one fixed quote for the same views and files. We quote one fixed price per project, agreed before work starts. See how our quote is calculated.
Do German rendering studios work in English?
It depends on the studio, so ask before you send files. Check whether the website, the quote and the contract are available in English, and ask which language is used for the feedback rounds. We work in English.
Can a rendering studio outside Germany prepare images for a German architecture competition?
Yes. The work is done from the drawings and the competition brief, so the studio’s location does not matter. Send the Auslobung pages with the required perspectives, formats and deadline. Entries in competitions under RPW 2013 stay anonymous until the jury decides, so ask the studio to keep its name off images and files.
Do I pay German VAT when I hire a rendering studio in another EU country?
A German business usually pays no VAT to a studio in another EU country but accounts for it itself under the reverse charge (Section 13b UStG). Ask the studio to show both VAT IDs on the invoice. Private buyers are treated differently, so check with your tax adviser.
