Days 1-3

Clay model

We build the 3D model without materials and place the camera. The viewpoint, lens, height and time of day are agreed on this grey model, when changes are quick and cheap.

Preview render

The same view with materials, lighting and surroundings added. You see it early, while the light and the finishes can still be changed easily. 2 revision rounds are included, and we keep refining until you approve.

Final render

The approved image, fully finished and delivered in 4K, with larger sizes for print on request and full usage rights. Every further view in the set uses the scene already built, so each extra image costs much less than the first.

Can you make images for a Landmarks Preservation Commission hearing?
Yes. We model the existing facades on the block from your photographs and drawings, and show the proposed work from the viewpoints the Commission staff ask for. Tell us which views your application needs, and send the existing elevations if you have them.
Can you render the view from a high floor of a new tower?
Yes, if you send photographs. The view from a high floor is part of what a buyer pays for, so it should be the real one. Send drone photographs taken at the floor heights, and we place them outside the windows of the rendered apartment. Without photographs we build a simple view from maps, and we say so in the quote.
Do you work from drawings in feet and inches?
Yes. We model at the real dimensions of your drawing set, whether it is in feet and inches or in metric. Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp files keep their units when we open them, so nothing has to be converted by hand.
Can you render a brownstone or townhouse renovation with the existing facade?
Yes. We model the existing facade from your photographs and survey drawings, with its stoop, cornice, window lintels and brick or brownstone colour, and then show the new work on it: a new rear extension, a roof addition or a new interior.
Do you need to visit the site in New York?
No. Street photographs, your survey and the drawings are enough for the context in most cases. If a view needs a photograph from a specific place, such as a window across the street, we tell you before we start so your team can take it.
