How it works

How to open a 3D file online

3 steps, and the file never leaves your computer.

1. Drop the file

Drop any 3D file on the viewer, with its texture files if it has them. It opens in 3D in a few seconds.

2. Look and measure

Rotate, pan and zoom, list the parts, and measure between two points.

3. Save a copy

Save the model as GLB, OBJ, STL, STEP, 3DM, 3MF or PLY for the program you need it in.

CAD and mesh formats

Exact CAD files such as STEP and IGES open next to mesh formats from games, the web and 3D printing, so one viewer covers most files you get sent.

Building models

IFC models from Revit, Archicad and Tekla open too. For storeys and element properties, use the IFC viewer.

Parts and size

Every part is listed, with the size and triangle count shown under the model.

What it cannot open

Closed formats such as SketchUp .skp, Revit .rvt and SolidWorks .sldprt cannot be read in a browser; save them as STEP, OBJ or IFC first. Revit files can be converted on the Revit viewer page.

Which 3D formats does it open?
STEP, STP, IGES, IGS, BREP, OBJ, FBX, GLB, glTF, STL, 3MF, PLY, OFF, IFC, 3DM, DAE, 3DS, AMF, WRL and FCStd, plus a ZIP holding a model and its textures.
Can it open SketchUp or SolidWorks files?
Not directly: .skp, .sldprt and .sldasm are closed formats. Export STEP from SolidWorks, or OBJ or FBX from SketchUp, and open that here.
Can I measure the model?
Yes. Click Measure and pick two points. For parts and printed weight, the STEP and STL viewers show more detail.
Is my model uploaded?
No. The file is opened in this browser tab on your own computer and is never sent to us or anyone else. It is free, with no sign-up.
