Free SVG to DXF converter
Exact lines for CAD, laser and CNC

Drop an SVG from Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma or a logo file and save it as DXF for AutoCAD, Fusion 360, LightBurn or a CNC router: straight lines exact, curves smooth, groups kept as layers.

Set the width in millimetres and the DXF opens at that size. Nothing is uploaded.

Free, no sign-up. Your SVG stays on your computer. It is read and converted in this browser tab and is never uploaded to us or anyone else.

  • Lines, rectangles and polygons exactly, curves smoothly
  • SVG groups become DXF layers
  • Real size in millimetres, set by you
How it works

How to convert SVG to DXF

3 steps, and the file never leaves your computer.

1. Drop the SVG

Drop the .svg file on the converter. Its shapes appear exactly as they will be saved, with the size read from the file.

2. Set the size

Type the width you need in millimetres; the height follows. A 100 mm wide logo measures 100 mm in CAD and in the laser software.

3. Download the DXF

Open the DXF in AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Rhino, LightBurn, VCarve or any CAD or CAM program. Each SVG group is its own layer.

What comes across

What an SVG becomes in CAD

What is kept exactly, and what is left out.

Exact straight lines

Lines, rectangles, polylines, polygons and straight path segments come across with their exact corner points, so they close and join as drawn.

Smooth curves

Circles, ellipses and curves are cut into short straight segments, under a millimetre long, which laser and CNC software follow smoothly.

Layers from groups

Each named group or Inkscape layer becomes a DXF layer, so cut, engrave and score lines can be kept apart. Colours are kept as the nearest CAD colour.

What is left out

Text is not converted, so turn text into outlines (paths) before saving the SVG. Embedded pictures, gradients and filters are left out.

SVG to DXF FAQ

Questions about converting SVG to DXF

Size, text, layers and privacy.

Ask us a question
Will the DXF be the right size?
Yes. The size is read from the SVG, at 96 pixels to the inch as browsers and Inkscape use, and you can type the exact width you need in millimetres. Check one dimension in your laser or CAD software before cutting.
Why is my text missing?
Text in an SVG is a font reference, not lines, so it is left out. In Illustrator use Create Outlines, in Inkscape Object to Path, then save the SVG again.
Does it work for laser cutting?
Yes. The DXF opens in LightBurn, RDWorks, LaserGRBL and the software of most laser cutters, with each SVG group on its own layer for cut, engrave or score settings.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The SVG is read and converted in this browser tab on your own computer and is never sent to us or anyone else. It is free, with no sign-up.
