How it works

How to convert DWG to PDF online

3 steps, and the drawing never leaves your computer.

1. Open the drawing

Drop the .dwg file on the converter or click to choose it. The reader loads once, then the drawing opens in a few seconds.

2. Choose the sheets

Every layout in the drawing is listed, plus model space. Tick the sheets you want in the PDF and click View to check each one in the preview.

3. Download the PDF

Pick the paper and black and white or colour, and click Download PDF. Each sheet becomes one page of a vector PDF that stays sharp at any zoom.

What is carried from the drawing into the PDF, and where it can differ.

Layouts at their scale

A layout is plotted 1:1 on its own sheet size, with its viewports showing model space at their own scale. A drawing at 1:100 in AutoCAD measures 1:100 on the printed PDF.

Line weights and line types

Each line keeps its weight from the object or its layer, and dashed, hidden and centre lines keep their pattern. Layers that are off or frozen are left out, as in a plot.

Hatches and fills

Solid fills and pattern hatches such as brick, concrete and insulation are drawn inside their boundary. In black and white mode, fills turn into matching greys.

Blocks, text and dimensions

Blocks with their attributes, single and multiline text, and dimensions are drawn. Text uses Helvetica instead of the drawing's own fonts, so line lengths can differ slightly from AutoCAD.

Does the PDF keep the drawing scale?

Yes, for layouts. A layout is plotted 1:1 on its own sheet size, so a plan at 1:50 measures 1:50 on paper. If you choose a smaller paper than the layout, the sheet is scaled to fit and the scale changes; the panel under the preview says which. Model space has no sheet, so it is fitted to the paper you choose.

Which AutoCAD versions does it open?

DWG files from AutoCAD R13 up to the current 2018 format, which AutoCAD 2018 to 2025 all save. The reader is LibreDWG, an open-source DWG library, running in your browser. DXF files are not supported yet; save them as DWG first.

Why does the text look slightly different from AutoCAD?

The DWG file does not carry its fonts; AutoCAD takes them from your computer. The converter draws all text in Helvetica at the right size, position and angle, so the letter shapes and some line lengths differ a little from the original.

Are xrefs and images included?

No. External references and images are separate files that the DWG only points to. Bind the xrefs in AutoCAD first (type XREF, right-click, Bind) and save, and they are drawn like the rest of the drawing. Raster images are left out.

Can it convert PDF back to DWG?

No. Turning a PDF into editable CAD lines is a different and much harder job, and this tool only goes from DWG to PDF.
